I decided to head up Burch Mountain (via the road) to try and get above what I hoped was an inversion making things dark, cold, and grey in Wenatchee. I drove to the end of the paved Burch Mountain road, parked, then starting walking. It took a while before I even entered the fog.
Lone Pine in the Fog
As I reached the ponderosa pine forest near the top of Burch, I began to think I wasn't going to make it above the clouds. However, shortly thereafter I entered the blue cloud-world typical of the top of an inversion when one starts to see the blue sky through a thin remaining layer of fog. I kept heading up to the radio tower to get some distant mountain views (the road is gated once it hits forest service land, but that doesn't affect walkers).

Eaglerock was just above the inversion layer, making this inversion higher than most that I have seen.
On the way down I realized I had lost my keys. So I retraced my steps in the snow for about 1/2 hour to find them. Although a few days late, I am certain this was a Festivus miracle. I then decending back into the fog and the grey cold world below.
Back into the fog.
And finally some gratuitous sunrise and sunset shots from Saddlerock the past few weeks.
