sign at the beginning of trail head.
This hike was easier then i thought it would be. The walk through the woods and the huge old growth trees made my day. This was my dogs first hike. Gizmo made it all the way to the top. She crossed every stream. On the way back down when it started raining i had to carry her in my pack. But she did a great job considering her size.

I presume you took the leash off just for the aesthetic photos, given that you explicitly pointed out the trailhead sign? You know, so as not to compromise on the pictures.

Nope. I had her off her leash. Just like every dog i have passed this season. I pick her up as i pass people. She is scared of people. She runs up to me long before i see the person or group. Plus my dog is too small to defend herself against another dog. So even if i had her leashed i would have to pick her up.

Hey, I passed you folks in the first half mile. Couldn't forget that little pup. Don't expect to find the lake snow free in February any year soon. Nice day to visit the lake. Glad you had a good time.

Dog off leash...dog licking lips (probably harrassed and ate some poor unsuspecting wildlife) and goodness only knows how many poor hikers were terrorized along the trail today. You should be ashamed! embarassedlaugh.gif What a cutie pie! winksmile.gif Lake 22 is a nice year 'round hike. Just not used to seeing the boardwalk this time of year. Congrats on your first hike Gizmo! dance.gif

My God...I was there last March and there was 12 feet of snow at the lake!

I take my dachshund with me on hikes. I always expect him to wear out, but he never does. We did Lake 22 late fall and he had no problem - all the way to the top and back. When there are streams or logs - I always expect to have to pick him up to help him across or over. But nope, he just kicks in into 4 Paw Drive and plows on through! He amazes me with the terrain he manuevers! I had a person ask me once on a trail if he did ok with those short little legs. I said nope - have to put the long legs on him when we hike!! biggrin.gif They said that was a good idea! Oh...I always keep him on leash.

Seeing that doggie makes me think of the story where an eagle tried to take a woman's dog, and only the leash saved it. paranoid.gif embarassedlaugh.gif
