Steve and I did this larger loop of the foothills, I found a trail I had never been on high above Dry Gulch that winds in between the rock formations, vegetation, and pine trees that is quite nice that dumps out into Dry Gulch eventually. We climbed back out as it was early gaining the ridge and working our way back towards Pitcher Mtn and arcing around the canyons and the ridge that runs back West from Saddle Rock. We found several clusters of Butter Cups along the way, plenty of mud, and minimal snow around 2000'. We kept a good pace most of the time as the sunny day was actually predominantly cool and overcasted, and for the exercise, however we found some large rocks on a highpoint above Number 2 Canyon and had a decent rest and lunch. 8 mi, 3100'.

Nice view of Bee Hive an old lookout with great views. It doesn't look like it's 2000' above us from here.

Canyon leading to Pitcher Mountain. Maybe your caption mislead me. irked.gif I actually went looking to see if I could find any such "canyon" on a map. dizzy.gif I couldn't. huh.gif Oh. Then I twigged. I guess some of my pics of that area aren't immediately recognizable, either.

Even so, considering that damn road up the dam is one of my favorite short, warm-up hikes in the area, one that starts almost in downtown Wenatchee, not recognizing that pic is just weird. rolleyes.gif

Sigh. ......... Anyway, that route down the middle section of Pitcher Ridge is a new one on me, too, even though I've been all around it. Guess I'll have to add it to my "to do" collection.

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!

I've always been on top of those ridges Scrooge so this is the first time I've looked down in and up that canyon. Quite a few people walk and run out that way, now I know where they are going. There are also more than a few old roads and informal paths that make for interesting loops of various distances.
