What an incredible accomplishment Tom - congratulations! Your description of the trip had me rivetted while visualizing the challenges and pondering what it must have been like in those elements. The pictures at the end were BONUS!

Wow, now that is pretty impressive. I think I would have froze into the ice on a 100deg pitch. Nice work on an amazing day!

Sweet route. Looking at the pic I felt like I had when seeing scurlocks photos for skiing. Wow, there's a line someone needs to do. Then thinking, hmm...I should do it.
Right on. Way to get out there to kill it.

The world needs people like you - I'm not sure why, but I sure ain't gonna do anything like that. A FA is certainly something to tell the grandkids about.

Thanks everyone, this was truly the climb of a lifetime for me in the N Cascades, something I have always looked at doing, but never had the stones to do.. until now.
I updated the TR with a route overlay. Again, thanks to John Scurlock for allowing me to use his photos. Without John's help, I probably wouldn't have attempted this route.
Some facts about this FA:
1) According to John Roper this climb marks the only time in Washington climbing history that the first ascent was also the first winter ascent.
2) This was one of the highest unclimbed points in the state at 8,680'+
3) The pilot of the EA6B Prowler who buzzed us on the summit was actually local climber Steve Trent who was doing a conditions check for an attempt later this month.
* More impressive to me would be seeing a summer ascent!

Congratulations Tom! Strong...! An awesome climb, winter ascent and way to go finding a great route for the FA. And to think, first time we met you were gimping on a broken toe and still then hard to keep up with.
