This is a report of our time at the Games done by one of my kids, Scott, for his group. All I can say is that it was quite the experience, http://www.tweak3d.net/forums/showthread.php?51579-Two-Weeks-At-The-Vancouver-2010-Winter-Olympics&p=355116&viewfull=1#post355116

What fun photos, thanks for sharing. I love the shaved chest hair in the shape of the olympic rings! Nice to see you also got in a dayhike - the Chief is a great little offseason jaunt with fantastic views of the Sound. Looks like you had a nice clear day, Garibaldi must have been stunning from the top that day. Congrats to your daughter, competing in the Olympics is certainly something to be proud of! up.gif

Pretty neat! What a great time for your family. Our niece just competed in the Tour of Anchorage 25km freestyle -- she's 11, so maybe she can follow in Holly's ski tracks!

Incredible! It was fun tracking Holly and her races during the games. Some observations: - Those kids definitely are chips off the ol' block. - Best pic: "The finish area, littered with exhausted racers." - Runner up: "A Yeti!" (I think I've seen that Yeti before) - Man, do those elite athletes ski fast. We get accustomed to 90 mph bobsleds, so the (self-propelled) nordic folks look slow. But the skiers in the video clip were flying. - You should write more TRs. (Oh, that's right. You didn't even write this one - Scott did.) Really, congratulations to you, Holly, and your family. Thanks for sharing with us.

Don - great report. My oldest daughter Merritt was Holly's roommate for 3 of their 4 years at Whitman and Holly was a bridesmaid at her wedding last October. I was so psyched when I heard she'd made the Olympic team. I work on a trading floor here in Chicago and my colleagues and I watched all of her races on the TV's scattered across the floor. They were so impressed that she was an Olympian that we'd all make a special effort to check her bib number before her races so that we could watch for her during her races. Also caught a glimpse of her during the televised coverage of the opening ceremonies. What a great experience it must have been for her. You should be incredibly proud of her - she's such a wonderful young women and such a phenomenal young athlete. Hope to see her competing again four years from now.

Hey DB Bob O. informed me of Holly's status as an Olympic Athlete and I said something like .."well she comes from damned fine stock." I Really enjoyed this post - I'm showing this to my 7 year old daughter, Clare, who just started cross country skiing this year. Hard to believe how things worked out, ain't it?
