It's OK if you like International Foods coffees, I'm not knocking it for other peeps; I just don't think it's very yummy.
Re screens: The neighbor upstreet has a dog that's always drooling all over their screen door - that's nasty. My other neighbor is dogless, and - bonus - they just had a new screen door installed last week.
But you have to be careful and do your homework in advance (who in your neighborhood has a drooling dog or baby, know how big a circle to cut for your backpacking coffee mug). Too many holes cut into screen doors within a block radius can attract attention - with good homework habits, you'll only have to cut one or two before you get it right.

Sometimes you are so gross, dude. Not as gross as International Foods "coffee", but still gross.
I use paper Melitta filters or dah VIA.

So, have you just been stringing me along, Alli, telling me you like my cowboy coffee?

I'd be curious to see your results, and may have to try this myself. It is imortant, of course, to allow similar time to elapse from grinding -> brewing as would happen on a backpack. I guess this doesn't quite fit your gear column, but it could make for a nice little WTA mag piece .

I was just at REI in Lynnwood yesterday (where I ran into the Hulkster ) and I picked up some of the Via in Extra Bold Italian Roast flavor. I'll give it a taste test this weekend.

Tanja just brought me a five-pack of Via sweetened iced coffee. Each packet makes a 16 oz beverage. I never knew such a thing existed.

The iced Via is good. It doesn't stand alone for me, though. I added a bit more sugar, and some milk powder, and then it was very good. I used the Backpacker's Pantry dried whole milk (from REI), the amount used was for 8 ounces of milk (half strength).
On single-night trips, since I'm basically eating regular food the first night of any trip, bringing the iced coffee would mean I could leave the whole stove/fuel/cook pot business at home. That is a major saving in weight and convenience. And the iced Via is much better under those circumstances that what I used to do, which was iced tea mix.

Where'd yall get that there Via Iced Coffee? My ladyfriend likes her coffee iced. It ain't my taste, but it keeps her happy. I figure I'd pick her up a bunch for her upcoming birthday (among other things of course).

Mt GF got it in a gift bag for her birthday last weekend. So I don't know where it is carried, or how much it costs. I only know it comes in a box with five packets in it.

I just ask for a sample of the VIA whenever I walk buy a starbucks. They always happily hand one over. I'm pretty stocked up on the stuff.

Has anyone tried the freeze dried instant from Trader Joes yet? It is surprisingly good!
I like Via too. Which is weird, b/c I don't normally like Starbucks. Costco is carrying it now.
