The land trust on Lummi has re openened the old trail, (the lower portion is new )to the cliffs looking west from the top of Lummi. Years ago we walked all over the upper portion of the island. Then for several years access was a problem, its good the trail is open again. Exploring toward the sourthern end, looking for more gawking spots, looks like several newer clear cutts.
The land trust has some strict management plans in place for the portion they have saved, to preserve the rare plant habitats) its ironic, the sourthern end is still being logged. Plus a portion is a falcon preserve.....
Views from the cliffs ......
Lummi Island Baker Mountain
Lummi island blues
Lummi Island rocks
Lummi Island 002
and from the drive over..... (a very nice bike ride from Bellingham to Lummi)
Where's the public access point? A few years ago, I was trying to figure out Lummi Island, but it seemed like all the roads led to private land and I gave up. Good to know it's possible to get up there
Edit: Woops, nevermind - just saw your other Lummi post.
