I'm going to try and make it to the trailhead by 10. This would be a great opportunity to try out my new raft.

Goat Lake on the MLH? I have been there a couple of times and not seen trash. I am sorry to hear this gem has gone downhill.

The trash is on the other side of the lake, thus the need for rafts. But we also need people to haul the trash out to the trailhead. I'm still going, plus two more people from last week's social are probably coming as well, and bringing some extra pack capacity.

I would love to go but I don't have a raft.

Me neither, don't worry about it. Only a couple of people are actually rafting the lake. The rest of us are just there as grunt labor to haul stuff to the trailhead, and of course to enjoy the hike. While they are rafting, we'll be lounging, picnicking, exploring, whatever.

For those participating in the flotilla, you may enjoy exploring the south end more than searching for the crud. To save you some time and simplify the job of locating the abandoned camp site, here's a little treasure map.

bonobo suggested 10 am, and no one has objected so far. I have no strong preference, so 10 is fine, or I could deal with a bit earlier. Someone could definitely leave later than that, and still be on hand when the rafters return to the near side of the lake with the garbage.

Rafting the lake, searching for the trash, rafting back, etc, will take a fair bit of time, no doubt. So it makes perfect sense for the rafters to get there early. I will also probably start early, as I like to take my time on the trail, and I don't mind lounging at the lake for several hours.

That's perfect, even if the non-rafters start at 10 or even later. If I was rafting the lake for garbage, I'd also want to explore around over there before rafting back. agree.gif

Sounds like we may all be rolling in at different times, which is okay with me. I haven't gotten out solo for a while, I may just start early and meet you all up at the lake whenever everyone gets there.
