Primus (8508’), Tricouni (8102’) and Austera (8334’)
Dicey and fwb2
–things come in threes
We went for three days. On the way we saw three animals –Coyote, deer and a bear, and managed three peaks –Tricouni, Primus and Austera…
Short version:
Ended up with only two of us. Was hoping two day, but proved a good three day trip. Flat trail from Colonial Creek CG to McAllister CG the 4000’ up ridge to camp at Borealis Glacier. Night summit of Tricouni under a half moon. Sunday Summit Primus and Austera while getting sunburned with SPF 40 on in the hot sun. Al the time gawking at stunning scenery. Hike out Monday and hobble into the diner for a delicious fresh mushroom burger. Okay, now you can scroll the pictures…
Detailed version:
Grab a beer and chips. This was a more involved trip so not short of words. I tried to sprinkle with photos to break it up. All in all a wonderful

Magnificent TR. Written so well that I felt like I was right there too. And of course, such wonderful photos. Love the extra effort you put in to show your route lines. Nicely done!!

Thanks so much for this TR. I've been thinking about going there sometime in July when things are melted out a lot more.

This is one of the nicest spots in the range, and this TR is a real blast from the past for me. When we were up there in August of 2000, there was a register on Tricouni, but not Primus. I'm guessing one of the register nazis got it.
That ridge from Borealis Glacier to McAllister Camp is a real pain in the neck. You guys made quick work of it.
Great TR.

Dang! You guys are going to climb everything in the Cascades. Thanks for the TR and route beta. One day I hope to make it into that area.

Seeing those peaks from Klawatti, dorado and marble needles the other week made me add all these peaks to my list. You make me really jealous! Thanks for the inspiring TR. It's very timely. And certainly very, very cool stuff you have here.

Inspiring text, story, awesome photos, love the photos of the shadows and the light, etc. etc. I like it when you talk about how life is good at the end, when you go to Marblemount Diner. That's what it's all about.
Since I don't climb, though it's interesting to read, it'll soon be like the voice of Charlie Brown's teacher in my head, but for one thing: the word, "cludge." I thought you were full of sh##, so I looked it up.

Tricouni isn't really that loose, FWIW. Your Repulse trip proposed for the weekend is looser.
