I havent found it yet in two trips now. Today I got to the do not enter rabid bats sign and found mining debris below that and saw the cable around the big stump above that and some cart rail up above, but no mine entrances. I went above, below, left and right of all this stuff and nothing. Gps coords put it right in the middle of the grassy hill so no help either. Maybe someone can email me better directions from where I got to as not to expose the super secret location. amdreher@hotmail.com

Made it out there today and found the mine! Took a couple hours of crawling all over the hill but eventually found it at the very top of the hill. The trick is after the switchbacks disappear, just keep going up. Eventually you'll find it on the right. I took some waypoints with my gps to make it easier to find. 48.09847099 -121.56604553 756m (2480 ft) Mine Entrance 48.09904391 -121.56537361 718m (2355 ft) Rock face with rabid bats sign, trail goes off to left 48.09985134 -121.56386635 643m (2109 ft) Beginning of trail 48.10047859 -121.56386402 594m (1948 ft) River Its a pretty cool tunnel. Lots of rails and pipes in there still. Also some creepy googly eyes on the ceiling.

Nice, been wanting to get back there too. Maps show mines left and right off that old road, base of cliff. Did you get to look up the shaft to the upper ? The one time I was there it was fall weather. Clouds low and getting sucked in the lower tunnel and that is the first time we ever seen that.

The shaft was collapsed when we arrived, so we couldn't get a good look up it. The real question is the current status of the upper levels and a good route to them. (I was there with dogle37 to avoid confusion.)

Is it (was it) really that bad to get up there? A route was mentioned in the book, but not explained other than to go up "Glacier Gulch" and that it was extremely dangerous.

Some crazy folks we know made it in there a few years ago. Then, it was a death climb in my book. They tried to get back last year but the hill sides have fallen away. Just getting to the area to see the adit was insane from what I was told.

Does anyone have the coordinates / approximate location of the upper adit? Like WindyPoint said the book directions are fairly vague. Also should be noted google's topo maps are off by +300 feet in this area. The lower adit shows on google earth at 2700 feet when its actually at 2400.
