Nephews from out of town wanted to do a hike today and NOAA's pinpoint forecast looked good for the Rampart area so we decided to check out how much melt had occurred during the recent heat wave since tlake's visit on 7/6. Not much! It's going to be a while until Lillian melts out. Sunny and breezy was the forecast. They got the breezy right. Getting over the slick rocks at Lillian was treacherous and conditions were pea soup so we bailed on heading up to the Ramparts but still had fun checking out the impressive falls below Laura. Never had much time to check them out but today conditions were optimal. A few pics...

Nice to see a TR from you again Thomas. Any shots of Lillian? Curious to see the changes since the last TR there. Oops. I guess that IS Lillian. LOL! Thanks.

I posted the best shot I have. We were clouded in but from what we could see of Lillian it was still snowbound. The recent heat wave didn't make much of a dent!

What can I say? The "Scrooge approved" versions look more like what you saw; the "Scrooge unapproved" versions are prettier. hmmm.gif I do kind of like these as pictures of moving water .......
....... even if Laura had serious problems with her makeup. Lillian and Laura have been part of our story for quite awhile, Tom. You took a side trip down to Laura on the way out, the day we met, while I tried to get a head start on the way down to the car. Must be, what, 12 or 13 years now? Somehow, I think it would be a little hard to think of someone who was 6'6" as a nephew. winksmile.gif

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!

I was up there last summer with my nephew. The road is getting pretty over grown. Otherwise not to bad.

Wow, I'm surprised at how much snow there still is up there. Looking for something relatively close to SEA and not terribly long for this coming weekend. Oh, and fitching. Not coming up with anything too brilliant thus far. It's just a titch too early still.

One or two spots on the road might challenge a low clearance vehicle but otherwise it's in good shape. Some good samaritan has brushed it out but it's still tight. Definitely do NOT take a new vehicle up there.
