At about 11:30 two stakes gave way. The tent was flapping and woke me up before the collapse... I could get dressed and head out to try to set it back up and have the flapping or I could do nothing. Nothing won. It worked pretty well.
Nice to see my patented Hassle-Free Backpacking ® style is sinking in.

At 5:30 am I did get up and saw a 10 lb. rock had been moved by the wind to allow the collapse. I placed an even bigger rock and went back to bed.
You faltered a little on the HFB ® style by arising, but you probably had to pee anyway and were too polite to mention it, so I thought I would do that for you. That, plus the decision to simply place a bigger rock and re-retire instead of re-staking may redeem you 100%, pending on your reason for arising in the first place. I'll give it a solid 90%, subject to the explanation of the 5:30 arisal.

Nice photos Jim. I read the report on your site. Our group leader (Kevin Koski) who has done a lot of work with the WTA was the one responsible for clearing the down trees across the trail. He had a very handy saw that the WTA gave him for completing over 50 outings with them. It was fun helping him clear the trail. I was wondering if you all noticed it was cleared. I have some photos of all you guys that I will get around to posting someday. Lot going on for me this week and trying to process around 400 images is going to take some time.

so... how did you get to the trail head? I was there today and the N. Fk Sky road is closed a few miles from Index with a barrier and berm of rocks blocking the road? I have done W Cady/Benchmark many times and was surprised at this. We went to Scorpion instead.
