Great stuff!  up.gif  up.gif  You and Hotpantz will have this one tucked away in your souls for the rest of your life.

I know you were hoping to move a bit faster on the PT, but consider yourself fortunate to have finished the first three days at the traditional camps.

and for some reason, the previous 8 days, the countless decisions, route finding, nervousness about whether or not things would go, what the weather would hold, and all the other elements... they all vanished. i felt like that entire time period was a void in my life. i know it's not a void, but on this day, it felt like it.

and as we transitioned back to the speed of life --- slow hiking, to biking, to driving down the single lane cascade river road, to driving through marblemount to darrington, and then to the madness of i5 and seattle --- i felt the clutter and stress of normalcy. it's something i don't normally feel, but after 9 days of the ultimate simplicity - eat, hike, drink, sleep - i now felt it. i didn't enjoy that transition, but i'm not sure how to avoid it.

Well said.  In my experience, it's unavoidable.  We call it civilization shock, the abrupt cessation of life in the moment and return to the pettiness of modern life.  And the only cure is to get out there again.

iron, you are awesome! great t/r!
thanks for the excellent route info.

ps - the thing that impresses me the most about you, is your ability to stay well within what you can safely do.  many who are not as strong as you, take significantly more risks.   impressive!

Successful PT with your soul mate. What else can you ask for! btw, I was on Daniel with WxMan during those thunderstorms. We could see exactly where they were, and yep, pretty much right over you. Congrats.

Man...what a great read. I've been looking forward to this trip report since we talked and you certainly didn't disappoint.

Probably one of the better step-by-steps of the PT that I've read through, and really fun to read and see the northbound bushwhack as well!

Thanks again for sharing this with us, you guys...you two make an amazing team! up.gif up.gif

P.S. - Love the panos, too!

Awesome trip, you two deserve it and earned it.  Made my morning.  I had to enlarge ptarmigan picture to see it.  Bench lake looks alot like Blanca Lake in shape and setting and logjam. dance.gif
