Introduction:
(Intro from Day Hiking Olympic Peninsula – Craig Romano)
“Sand ladders and ankle-twisting terrain climb 250 feet up and over the imposing head-land. Travel through a grove of old growth Sitka Spruce before making a steep decent back to sea level.” Ok, from this point you have to watch the tides and you will do the above all over a couple more times to reach this destination…
Directions:
Drive 55 miles west of Port Angeles to the State route 110 (Mora – La Push cutoff) and take a right and follow this road towards La Push. Park at the Third Beach TH which is on the Left.
The gang: realityguy and me-halffast
Fun: 100%
There has been plenty of TR’s for this area recently soooo I will just add some photos… enjoy !!
realityguy... we got around this point on the way south but had to do the overland for it on our way back on our way... looking south beach looking north from where we came
Homes away from home...
realityguy and his vintage tent my home away from home view halffast and realityguy at Toleak Point
More beach fun...
awesome views rugged coastline beach in front of my tent site beach in front of campsite crowded tide pool fun
Sunset...
sunset sunset camp site camp fire with a view
On our way back...
view south from overland trail view north from overland trail
This hike is well worth doing. The trail is a bit rough in places but no
real problems or major concerns... that said, I am not so sure I would want to do this hike in the rain !!
And... it was awesome to sleep with the waves so close...
A wonderful beach hike in the ONP… Thank you realityguy !!

EDIT:
From Third Beach to Toleak Point is 6 ish miles and at a medium slow pace we were at the Toleak Pt. in 2 1/2 hours.
If you are short of time, want a beach experience and to be isolated from most of the crowds... this hike is for you... a great quickie !!

Damian...
No, someone has taken it down ... We were camped just south of where it was. Realityguy had seen it the last time he was out there as well.
Hikingqueen...

What a bummer realityguy that you... "had to spend Sunday at Deer Park doing a bit of ridge hiking and yesterday stuck at Shi-shi to Point of the Arches..."
Thanks for telling... the rest of the story

Ah, your pics and TR brought back fond memories. I haven't been there in years. I need to get back to that area again - so beautiful.

One more note..If you look carefully in the third picture here..This is the bay before Strawberry Point(picture taken from..) and after Scott's Camp or Creek...There is a small seastack within the bay on shore near the other end of the bay..this is the other 4.0 "maximum tide point"..about probably 1/4 to 1/2 mile beyond Scott's Creek. You can easily go behind it if you can't get around the bottom of it...It isn't that big...
