Nice pics. The skeeters are really bad in July but the lake is prettier (gets a bit of a bathtub ring later in the year).
David, ha, yes (I get it now) and you need NCNP permits.

Very nice photos!
I've noticed the skeeters are starting to get bad. I think they will be in their prime over the next two weeks (later this year than in years prior).

I seem to recall the skeeters were super heinous up there. Super pretty place though.
Took my first ride in a wussmo there.
I would enter from the east if I were to return.
They very often check on permits in this area. I seem to recall Blake Herrington getting a ticket while he was working at the Stehekin Bakery. Some people refer to it as "Ticket Lake" as a result.

A problem going in from the east might be getting permits. Presumably you can obtain them at the USFS ranger stations in Winthrop or Chelan the day before. Also, while shorter, I found going in from the east to be far less scenic. Don't think I'd go in that way again.

Ah, so you've been back then. I thought you didn't find it all that scenic.

Sooperfly and I we were visiting another lake on the south side a couple years ago and stopped by for a visit. Here's Soop sucking in his gut, and you can see the bathtub ring around the lake.

As I understand it, Blake actually had a permit, but due to fatigue or darkness, he couldn't make it to the camp the permit was issued for. An over-zealous NPS Ranger wrote him up, which was an asinine thing to do, IMO. Would they prefer people stumble around exhausted or in the dark just because the permit says they have to camp in a particular place?

It would seem that they do, it's a minor glitch with the system.
