This trip report may have lots of additions so be sure to check back to see all the participants’ (Ingunn, Go Jo & Schmidt Alti-Babe's) contributions.

Our two main hikes were an overnighter into the Big Pine Lakes in the John Muir Wilderness (camped at Second Lake) and Thousand Island Lake in the Ansel Adams Wilderness.

Our trip was foiled by late snow melt and and frozen lakes in an area usually clear of snow in June.  If anyone wants any beta regarding the hikes feel free to contact me by pm, this is a gorgeous area that I hope to return to someday as I have a lot of unfinished business here!

It's been a few years since I have been there. By far the most beautiful place I have ever been. I've never seen a raft in a lake in the Sierra though! That brings a nice Cascade touch to the eastern crest!

Great shots that bring back memories of climbing Sun Ribbon Arete on Temple Craig a while back. After climbing down there it's hard to come back to the funky rock of the Cascades.

Gorgeous photos.  And the background scenery is nice, too.

That video is hilarious.  More, please.

Very nice photos and am looking forward to the remainder. But I'm glad they won't be submitted to the annual calendar competition. It gives the rest of us amateurs a chance.  embarassedlaugh.gif

Thanks all; hopefully the 'other wives' will post some photos soon, I’ll probably post some more later.  Special thanks to the girls for being great companions, we certainly had a lot of challenges thrown at us during this trip and yet we managed to survive and come back thinking we had a great time.   lol.gif

Just a few words for those that don’t know about Mono Lake.  I had visited it many years ago, but it was in the winter as David & I were on a ski trip.  So one of the highlights this trip was getting to swim in Mono Lake – a really unique experience.

Mono Lake contains carbonates, chlorides and sulfates.  It is 2.5 times saltier than the ocean and is very dense.  That means that you will find yourself extremely buoyant in the waters of Mono Lake, you don’t need to dog paddle or even move to stay float.  A very cool, yet weird sensation!  Just make sure you have access to a shower afterwards, unless of course you don't mind having a crusty, white layer on your skin.   hockeygrin.gif

And thanks for rubbing it in bertman!   lol.gif   I have three big trips this summer (2 of 3 complete) and none of them are in calendar approved locations.   bawl.gif

I have long wanted to visit Mono Lake, so was very happy to see your photos. Really nice, but I think you may have overdone the "less is more" philosophy this time. More, please (unless the other ladies unveil their pics first).
