I am the biggest secret admirer of Karen's photos. Now she does video too!
Like Matt said, everyone's pics round out a cool story line of your trip. Makes me want to get back to Yosemite. I'll look out for marmots in the tent(!).

This trip was my first introduction to so many things, one of which was the concept of 'guerrilla camping'... which seems like it should be be 'gorilla camping' (ooohoohooh aahaahaah) since it is such a zoo finding sites in the middle of the night. After our lack of sleep at the Miner's Mart, I found myself nodding off in the rig on the way over Tioga Pass, hearing only snippets of the conversations about where we would be pitching our tents. Due to the late snow melt we ended up carrying our gear down a closed camp ground driveway in the dark and tumbled into our tents hoping for the best. As it turns out I awoke to an awe inspiring view and and learned a lesson about the enjoyability of a flexible itinerary when traveling. We even found the park natives to be entertaining and not overly aggressive, a step up from the backwoods tweekers from night one.
So we just found some other cars and packed up our bags to find a home for the night. This location looked promising even in the dark. This was the view from our second guerrilla camping. It put the 'Meadow of Hope' to shame. Californians wear fur and look good doing it!

That has to be my all-time favorite Half Dome shot! What a great perspective, especially if you've ever been one of the ants climbing up.

So true!!!
You ladies visited my absolute favorite parts of CA!
Bodie was very close to where you visited... truly one of the best ghosttowns in Ca. Lots of hot springs around Mammoth too.
Ummmm. Didn't you have to get past a LOT of flies to go swimming in Mono Lake?! I love swimming too, but I remember a LOT of flies deterring my doing that!
The Bristlecone Forest is out that ways too. That is really magical too.
I'm so glad y'all had a great adventure! 395 is way prettier than highway 1, imho. But I'll take mountains over foggy coast any day.

Our family brought it to my attention this weekend that they are still patiently waiting for my niece & nephew's birthday party pics... from May. So I took a moment to see why it is taking me so long to catch up and calculated that I take approx 700+ photos per week so either I need to hire a photog assistant or only allow myself a 1 gig memory card When this weekend's Scenic Beach Camping, yesterday's Lake Tapps Reunion and the Super Heroes & Princesses Turn 3 Party roll out of my studio I promise to resurrect this thread with my Mono Lake, Big Pine Lakes & Thousand Island Lake contributions. Sooooo, see you right back here in October?

The crux of our trip was getting our vehicle packed and ready to go every morning...next time we're renting a U-Haul!
Our rental car had a little too much junk in the trunk, but Josie got us through the week with her impressive Tetris skills. Spacious digs
