I was up there 2 days ago and thought, "Just a slip in so many places along here could cost one dearly.." 'burncycl' your post warmed my heart and brought me to tears.

Pretty steep and exposed
We have done the Enchantments 1x starting at Snow Lake trail head and we got up to the upper enchantments and looked down at the pass and boy it looked steep. We went up Little Annapurna - but not so exposed as the Pass is.

This is a very heart-rending tragedy. I am only one month older than Steve, but did not know him. Just last October, I was drawn off-trail to that very spot, just to take some photos of the beautiful waterfall/icefall. I understand fully what compelled him to be there, drinking in all that magnificent scenery, and I can't help but feel the loss of a kindred spirit. Thank you family members and friends for sharing your stories. God bless.

I only met Steve twice, he worked on my aunts computers periodically and that is how I met him. We shared stories for a good 2 hours at the start of the summer and he was telling me how excited he was to get to go up to the Enchantments with his son. I was totally stunned to hear of this tragedy. He is the kind of guy I would have loved to gone on a hike with.
