What a great climb, and a good telling of it. I think you do these crazy stunts just to set up for a good story! If your boot killed any rats on it's way down, make sure you don't mention it.

Now, it turns out that Storm King has a namesake: One of my kids has been “Storm King” since she was kicking her mother from inside. The doctors at the hospital even started calling her Storm King. These pics might help in telling them apart:

Storm King, the kid

thanks for this clarification smile.gif

Popcorn: Summitpost.org (Klenke?) says: "Is it pronounced "good-ee" or simply "good"? The answer is the latter. But most people say the former, probably because it is easier to distinguish the Goode from merely the good." I asked a ranger at the Stehekin Ranger Station about this, and she said it was simply "good-ee." No one there had heard of calling it "good" (other than as an adjective, I surmise). Summitpost also says that it is Goode Mountain, even though most people call it Mt. Goode. So I'm sticking with "Mt. Goode," pronounced "good-ee". Whew. HitTheTrail: It was great seeing you out there! And puzzlr, I think you are right. You should be a shrink.

ditto.gif Couldn't you get the plane to drop you off any closer to the mountain?

I'm not always sure I like being older but being less stupid has advantages. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32121172@N00/sets/

Thanks, Roald! I first saw Goode on a long quasi-loop (plus a lot of luck, and friendly NPS Rangers) up Thunder Creek-Park Creek Pass-Cascade Pass (where I linked up with friends who drove me back to my car in the Colonial Creek CG parking lot. I took a nice photo of Goode, but have never been quite sure how to pronounce the mountain's name. Luckily, I have always called it "Good-ee," with two syllables.
