With all of this hot weather this week I decided to post a report from last weekend. Remember... cold, cloudy, gee I wish the sun would come out? We had a reservation at the Paradise Inn for an anniversary celebration and since we couldn't cancel it we decided to make the most of it. My sister wisely reminded me that "You love that place so much you can enjoy it in all seasons." How true. So off we went, in to the fog.
Now, normally I don't go there in the middle of the summer on a weekend. The crowds can certainly be overwhelming and quite irritating. But somehow, I felt really sorry for them this time. After all, I KNOW what the Mountain looks like. I know the feeling of awe and joy when it fills my eyes, lens and my heart.
But this weekend, we never even saw a glimpse of the Mountain. And those poor tourists from who knows where...well, all they got to see were the post-cards at the gift shop. frown.gif There were alot of folks milling around wondering where the Mountain was.
Some of them wandering off where they didn't belong rolleyes.gif
But we opted to wander a few trails to see what we could find. Here's a sampling... Box Canyon
Sunbeam Falls
Paradise River
Grove of the Patriarchs
Comet Falls
Snow Lake
And meadows around Paradise
Kind of a nice weekend, in a Northwesty kind of way! smile.gif

In some ways, it's when the Mountain is shrouded in fog/clouds that I find the area most beautiful... there's a quiet uncertainty to it, and the tension makes me yearn for that place even more! (Yes this is incredibly and overly emo, moon.gif, but this is the first year since 2007 I haven't gone back to the area and miss it hugely.)

You captured a fall kind of day around paradise, it's coming just around the corner, I can feel it. I've got to get up there ASAP. Before we know it will be time to bust out the snowshoes again!

Amazing photos - particularly liked the bear grass in the fog.

Fun report, Z, but it's still nice that you knew what was there when conditions were better.
Ent humpy.gif smile.gif Good eye. Good capture.
up.gif up.gif I was tempted to reproduce all your water pics, Z, but I decided that might be overdoing it. wink.gif
