I did the Boulder Lake - Happy Lake loop in early September going on a decade ago and it was breathtakingly beautiful.
Your pictures plant a seed that this is an area I need to revisit.
It's funny - I had done Boulder Lake a week or so before Happy Lake. When I got to the split this time at Happy Lake (after I visited the lake) I seriously considered doing the loop. I had plenty of water and knew the route - I just didn't feel like walking the road for 1.5 miles!
But I will go back and complete the loop.
One the way up, I was like, "well this sucks"...but once I got to Happy Lake Ridge, the world changes and it is awesome. I also enjoyed Happy Lake - a nice flat area to chill.
Enjoy the summer!
