Maria and I decided to explore Granite Mountain (6688 feet) north of Mount Shuksan on Tuesday. This required passing over the summit of Hannegan Peak and following the ridge northwest. Part of the route was off-trail and required minor bushwhacking. A couple spots along the way could only barely be considered Class 3.
Views of Copper, Redoubt, Luna, Challenger, Ruth, Blum, Shuksan, Sefrit, Church, Goat, Tomyhoi, Larrabee, Pocket, and Slesse were more impressive than anticipated. Under a cairn near the summit, I found that someone had placed a rock with the message "Time is not gliding away. It builds up in your mind".

Nice! I've never even heard of this one. Beautiful fall color against those blue peaks.

Oh my gosh, my first rating click and I totally messed up!! I meant a green!!! Admins, can you erase my red? Wonderful trip, well captured. Thanks! Edit--oh OK, I figured it out. Hated to have any negatives associated with Gimpilator's fine contribution.

Such a beautiful day on Tuesday. Some of us were fortunate to be able to take advantage of the brief weather window. I was high above the clouds down at Mt. Pilchuck and environs all day. Being further south and a little lower in elevation, the blueberries were only barely starting to turn. You all had such bright color up there on the slopes. Terrific photos. I love this image of the raven with mountains and clouds in the background. What a magical shot! ~z~

Wow, the scenery up North is incredible. It's like our very own mini-alps, haha. Great shots as always up.gif

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. I put the rock back where I found it, in the hollow below the cairn. It's approximately 10 feet south of the highest point.
