I saw someones trip report for Chambers Lakes on here a few weeks ago and since I had a trip to Broken Top planned for 24-25 with my sweet sweet wife, a neighbor of mine and his daughter, I talked him into coming down early and spending 3 days going up there and exploring a bit.
The plan was to hike into Camp Lake the first day, spend the second day exploring around the joint, hiking out the third day, spending the night at a friends place in Bend where we would rendezvous with my sweet sweet wife and his daughter for a trip up Broken Top.
He hadn't been backpacking in something like 30 years, but retired from the Marines awhile back so he knew a little something about marching. He had one speed- blazing. There was no "stop and take pictures" in his vocabulary, so I had to hit him from behind with the biggest stick I could find whenever I wanted to stop and take a photo.
Pull the camera out, he's gone
I get a little faster on the draw, catch him in the corner
He starts warming up to the idea of being in some photos and I even get some sweet poses
It's midday and the light is terrible for pictures so I put the camera away for awhile.
