I don't often get the opportunity to go hiking with my parents, so it was another memorable experience to go on a hike with my mom this last week to Shi Shi Beach on the NW end of the Olympic Peninsula. Shi Shi Beach is part of Olympic National Park, and it is quite amazing that this pounding surf, sandy shoreline, and washed up sea life exists so close to the glaciated Olympic Mountains. What an amazing part of the world we live in. I posted a bunch of photos and an overview of Shi Shi Beach on my website at: http://www.stephabegg.com/home/tripreports/washington/olympics/shishi Here are some photos:

Your photos are simply stunning! Amazing how the right eye can make such small things become such a big deal in a photograph. Most people (including me) can only dream of taking such wonderful shots biggrin.gif

Great pics and time lapse. Glad you were able to find reasonable weather...and love your different vision of the place than I had while passing through Shi Shi.

Was it crowded with Labor day folks? I hiked to Shi Shi from the south 2 years ago and we arived on the Tuesday after Labor Day and there was almost no one there but someone told us that the day before there were hundreds ! There were massive drift wood "sculptures" and huge piles of garbage at the trailhead at the north end.

Thanks for enjoying the photos. Little did I know that would be the last hike for me for awhile, after a recent accident on Vesper (hence the heli rescue photos). See my website for details: https://sites.google.com/site/stephabegg/home/tripreports/washington/northcascades/vesper

omg .. that is a very scary story steph .. and amazing too .. i'm glad you have an angel protecting you .. i mean along with your skill (and jenny's too .. and the docs) and everything else ... you don't know how happy i am that you didn't loose the foot and will be ok .. you are still so young and an inspiration in so many ways i guess we should be carrying our verizon cell too .. even though we never do stuff like you ..
