Spur of the moment trip after going out for breakfast with the family. Headed up to West Tiger 3 via Nook/Section Line.
Parking lot not full but enough cars no doubt due to holiday.
Was hiking about 11:45 which is an odd time for me since I am usually earlier or later.
It almost felt like spring leaving the car. A little sunshine even.
Lower trail leading to start of trails up West Tiger 3.
Start of Nook trail.

Not sure why they need this sign. Nothing real attractive over there.
Talus trail junction from Nook Trail.
Join Section Line Trail.
Section Line trail starting up, at first moderate but steepens in a hurry.
In short order I hit the cable line trail and walked the 65 paces (yea I counted) to the West Tiger 3 summit.

It was cooling down and a breeze blowing so I pretty much headed down in short order. It looked nicer to the east.

Didn't see any rain until just above the Talus junction and it was very light. Back at the car just a light drizzle had started. Just in the nick of time as I drove home the rain became more steady.
Not bad considering I hadn't even planned to get out at all. Got in a decent workout and stayed dry even.
I got deja vu reading that TR, as if I had just recently read a very similar TR.....
Nice. I haven't been to WT3 in years, but when I used to go, the Bus/Nook/Section Line route was my favorite.
Great report. Definitely my favorite trail on Tiger 3. This trail is usually pretty quiet and its an excellent workout. I think my favorite part is that the first mile is pretty easy so it's a great warmup and the last 1.5 miles is really good work. Very nice for mountaineering training with increasing pack weights. Get yourself to 56 minutes with a 55 lb pack and you'd be in AWESOME shape!

I think it was 56 minutes with a day pack this time but I wasn't really trying for a time..
I'll take the Nook trail over the Cable Line any day for a quick trip up Tiger 3. Better shape and less people and still a good workout if you push yourself.

Exactly. Not all that mud you get in places on the abused Cable Line trail.
