We spent a few days en famile earlier this month at Kalaloch Lodge (more info on the lodge here).
No big hikes but lots of little hikes and poking about. The highlight for us all was watching the salmon spawn in the little creeks off the Hoh. We did both the little hikes near the Hoh visitor center. The Hall of Mosses has the drive thru and spooky forest,
the Spruce Nature Trail runs alongside a Salmon spawning stream
and we saw an otter doing what he otter from this trail too. The beaches were looking good
and our favorite was 4th beach which had the most accessible tide pools (low tides were late in the afternoon)
On the way home we visited the Spruce Burl forest,
Quinault in torrential rain
and in Aberdeen a train pulled up to the McDonalds!
Great outing - cabin was great. Getting a charcoal grill going in torrential rain on the beach was challenging but the results were considerably better than the restaurant where we only ate one night. Gotta get out there more often!

Me, my girlfriend and a friend if ours did the spruce nature trail on Wednesday. The salmon were still spawning which seemed a bit late in the season. It was quite a sight. The creek was teeming with them.
