So a mine I've been wanting to find is the Wayside Copper Mine and there are 2 ways of finding it. DWHM Vol #1 talks about a different way so we will call that #1 Well I took route #2 and still didn't find it but here's the scoop. I took the kiln trail to the point that the trail does a 90 deg right had bend and the bridge went across Hubbard Creek to the left. So I drop down and crawl up to what I figured was the old grade. I chopped my way for about 1 1/2 hours till I was dead then took a break. I looked at the Topo, GPS not working and this big rock pile coming down the hill. Now that looks un natural so I climb up and find the rail line. Crap there's more than one line on this side ??? I come to a large area that has been cut into the rocky hill side and think I've found it, nope but I guess there was more mines here but now closed from slide junk. So I head down river and soon come to some flagging that reads DANGER. I've found the Vertical shaft that drops around 1000 feet down so stay clear of this. The collar has rotted away and now is under cut. If ya fall in Game over Jack.. I had phone service and call the Godfather, he told me I've gone to far So I back track and soon I've come to Hubbard Creek, Crap so I turn back and bush whack some more.. I get about half way to the shaft to China and call it a day. There will be a return trip soon.. That was the thickest brush I've ever seen..
Well, pics of GREEN BRUSH are better than no pics of GREEN BRUSH, especially where mine huntin' is concerned.
Glad to hear you found the shaft to China before it found you!
(Sorry about bumping an old thread.)
Jimbo, if it makes you feel any better, I too was skunked today by the Wayside. Thrashed around for two or three hours and found no sign of the tunnel.

I'm starting to think the portal is no more.
