Another dispatch from the far east. This time to the section of the Great Wall that lies high in the mountains above Beijing. I managed to get out camping with my son Miles, first time in 6 months! I've only uploaded 4 photos (internet is S L O W)

Nice one! I lived in Beijing for a number of years and actually camped on this section of the wall myself in 2009. On the way down from that steep section I vividly recall a group of older Chinese hikers vigorously making their way up. They were on their way to Mutianyu, and judging by their pace on that section I doubt they had any problems. Keep the reports coming! We did a number of trips in Yunnan, Sichuan and Gansu and I would be more than happy with beta if you are planning on getting out that way.
