A friend and I tackled Mount Baring despite the snow. We came prepared (gaiters required near the summit with 8-9" of snow), and had a good time despite the freezing wind. Got the summit!
The talus field and descent from there was definitely the most difficult, as the rocks had frozen and created really slick conditions. Slow going, but we got down in one piece. Fun way to spend the first good snow of the season.
Easy enough to backpack up there? Looking for an easy, close, short over nighter. I have snow gear (crampons, microspikes, snow shoes, ice axe, super warm bag & tent, etc.)
Any advice would help- I also don't NEED to camp near the summit of anywhere. Somewhere near the edge of a the treeline might also be good!
