My NWTopos map shows a faint trail going all the way to N47.00036° W121.76859°, which appears to be about 1.5 miles further than your waypoint. It does show the trail ending at a creek and also refers to the trail as "Chenius creek road".

Hi - is the trail you are describing on the north side of the creek (the now closed NF Road 7840), or does it stay on the south side until it crosses the creek near N47.00036° W121.76859°?

I had to open up this location in Google Maps to verify, but yes, the "faint trail" I was describing is in fact the old closed NF-7840 (see LINK). The point where my NW Topos map shows the "faint trail ending" is the location where Google Maps shows the old road ends. Note that I've never been on this hike! My comment was based solely on looking at the map. Can you not proceed (via hiking) all the way to the end of the old road at N47.00036° W121.76859° anymore?

I've hiked 7840, but after about half way the trail is over grown with densely packed saplings. You would need to weave your way forward. Cutting would be required to try and continue on 7840.

Hiked up to Chenuis Falls today and poked around on this old trail. Looks like it hasn’t seen good maintenance recently. Anybody hike it to its end in the last couple of years that knows conditions?

Is JennieEl still around and do maintenance on that trail? I'd like to help out maybe next summer. Seems like a cool place and not crowded. Not sure I'd go there alone though

Feels like it's harder to get there now. The NPS doesn't put in the log bridge until high summer. In years past it would be in in early Spring.

We helped the Park Service put the bridge back in this year (in late May) and it was washed out less than 2 weeks later. It would be a darn shame to hike to the falls and not have a way back...

The bridges were in (somewhat) on Sunday - I was able to access the falls without an issue. I was solo and followed the old trail past the falls for a short distance (a few switchbacks) until I encountered the first serious blowdown. I was mainly curious to see if there was a better vantage of the falls, but the trail seemed to pull away from the falls and head up into the forest.
