last minute decision to hike to Enchanted Valley and then a phone call to Hikingqueen who promptly said, YES 
i'm too tired to write a TR but will later (maybe  ) so my photos will have to do for now!
the start of our journey to Enchanted Valley

Wow, the pix tell it all. You guys have a knack with those cameras, especially when catching wildlife.
Folks who had been up the Valley over the 4th also were treated to bears; hope yours were as well mannered as theirs were.
Extraordinary hummingbird shots. Takes a sober, steady hand....

What a great trip and pictorial report, bobbi. It looks like the two of you had a great time, and it also looks like you had Enchanted Valley practically to yourselves, as long as you don't count all the bears. Really enjoy your photos of the mountains and the rushing water, but the shot of the two of you in the Chalet windows with the mountain reflection is especially fine, as are those amazing hummingbird photos.

there were lots of folks at EV. everyone seemed to be spread out. folks were respectful and quiet!

some of my really close up photos of the bear were blurry. i think i was so close to the bear, i was actually shaking without knowing it. the bear though seemed nonchalant about the people around it, walking right through a campsite with about 5 people standing around.

the photos of the hummers were taken from inside the restaurant. pretty steady for sure! 
we were sober since we had our celebratory 'mike's hard but light lemonade' before lunch

after setting up the frame with the mountain reflection the photo posted was the second try as i had someone retake it.
i forget that my composition differs from others when i ask them to take a photo of me and only to have them 'retake' it.
also learned that from my 'shorter perspective', a taller person sees things differently! 
here's the first photo the person took
see why i had her do a retake? the second one is better even though there was a reflection of her husband on me
