At the Wenatchee costco they had a couple of palets yesterday.

Saw it at the north Seattle store. I don't buy the stuff so I don't know if that is a good deal.

It is a smoking deal if it's their better-tasting dinners. That said, if I never eat another fd dinner, that will be just fine by me.

They have them at the Portland Costco too...considering they run $6-7/ea at REI, yeah, it's a good deal. I think they appeal more to preppers than backpackers, but I can make one MH meal split into two meals (I just don't have a good appetite when I backpack), so to me, it's a good deal...less than $5 for a MH meal is a very good deal. I like them because they are easy and don't require a lot of work to make. Just add hot water!

More than one alternative. Just saying. If it's easy to make, and tastes great, i don't paying slightly more.

+1, there are only 2 times that I would eat a MH dinner, if I were starving or if I were paid really well. eck.gif One of my friends ate a MH breakfast just prior to hiking up Vesper from Vesper lake, he made it about halfway until losing his MHB all over the mountain.....poor mountain, defiled by man and mountain house. shakehead.gif

I guess that I am in the minority...I don't think they taste that bad. smile.gif I am also getting into making my own food, but that takes time and energy and I would rather go to REI to get some ready made stuff...if they carried PackItGourmet, I would try them too....Our local New Seasons (kinda like Whole Foods) had a local company selling backpacker meals, but they were $9. I never did try them...

Randy the beef stroganoff is my favorite Mountain House meal! And that really is a good deal! the single servings are 5 bucks (maybe more since I last bought one). Pretty darn tasty; it replenishes, so if after a hard day, I feel so much better after eating it. It gives me good energy, so I actually have it for breakfast if I'm on a bigger trip than usual. After a haitus, I'm getting out again this summer; fire up the dehydrator (buy some Mtn House beef stroganoff) find a new sleeping bag - I already have a new tent - and I'm out there! agree.gif
