After many ideas and choices decided on this one. Got the permit day before. Annie wanted to see the full moon out somewhere. We never did see the moon.
Parking is limited here so get there early!
Weather was perfect!
Trail was awesome, thank you WTA, they were working again this weekend on it.

Dominate flowers are lillies right now

But later the ranger was digging spots out for people, now that's service!

We explored around up to the wedge
Upon heading back to camp we saw a lot of guys drinking Rainier beers, we approached our camp and saw this across from us
Someone was having a bachelor party and they were all going to the summit even. They were nice 4 girls even. They weren't as loud as I thought they might be but I think they might have been hung from night before and serious about climbing, so it was all good.
Early morning shots

On our way out, great trip once again! No bears...
Bugs were REALLY BAD! FYI

Excellent - love your pics, Hikingqueen! 157 shows the ribbon of cloud over the summit Sunday morning. On the other side of the mountain, it was a brilliant orange at sunrise. Unfortunately, I could only see it through the trees. I was at least a half hour away from being in a position to photograph it, so it didn't happen.
I'm surprised you didn't see any bears. Maybe they were all sleeping it off Sunday morning after raiding your neighbor's ice chests?
Edit: Now I see you caught sunrise in 126. Good for you!

Beautiful trip. I'm still getting to know the area and gaining experience and hiking partners. I think this one goes on my list.
Extra points for capturing the elusive Pacific Northwest blow up doll in it's natural habitat.

You found the lakes!!! I've been wondering how to get to them ever since I saw them from the backside of Burroughs!
Love the marmots in lily fields!

Those are great pictures of the glacier lilies, that's a lot of yellow. Nice choice for an overnighter

How many NWHikers could I have potentially met this weekend while I was camped at White River? I was even at the emmons glacier overlook Saturday morning. Those pics look really familliar...

Nice pictures!
We walked by that campsite, but only the inflatable lamb was out then. The owner said her name was Mary and that it was her little lamb.
There was a bear in the Basin earlier in the day on Saturday (10:30ish), but it was quickly moving away and all we saw was its behind.

Love the marmots and the blow up doll is a real kick. My mom is desperate to find marmots this year as they haven't been out in the usual places she goes.

If you want to see a full moon, you have to go hiking when the moon is full. That's the 13th of August. You went when there was hardly any moon showing, the new moon, almost. But you saw just about every other cool thing there is to see, beautiful lakes, ferocious marmots, flowers, glaciers, raging streams, a giant blow-up doll, the whole enchilada. Nice report and pictures, thanks for posting them.

Might not be a bad thing, not seeing a bear... MRNP's website says there's a slightly aggressive bear around the camp in the last few weeks. I wonder if it's the same one I saw when I was there 2 years ago, but more grown up now. He was rambling through all the campsites. Cute little bugger, a couple years back, and no mother. He was about a year old. No fear of people, very curious. I thought I heard they relocated him though so maybe it's another bear.

Sluggy, the calendar said it was a full moon, guess we should have checked somewhere else, oh well good excuse for going. It was an awesome trip, I got a doozie coming taking a day before I write the report.
