Trailhead used: Deer Ridge #846 (the end of FS Rd 2875)
Distance: 10.4 roundtrip
Elevation gain: 2800 ft
Headed up to do the Deer Ridge trail over to Deer Park today. It felt hot out while hiking up this somewhat steep trail. The grade was in that zone where it is too much for efficient heel strikes and not enough for efficient toe strikes....so it made for a slow ascent. There are openings in the trees every half mile or so to allow a possible picture opportunity. At Deer Park, there were a few people utilizing the recently opened road (yesterday). Also plenty of deer, rabbits and chipmunks.
