Many phpbb sites have the "Thank You" feature which I think would be a nice addition to nwhikers. Sometimes there may be a user who posts a decent post that gives me information, plus it's kinda nice to know when people appreciate your posts.
Please consider this feature.

Flow, if you appreciate someone's post because it gave you insight, take the time to express your thanks.

@ Yet: Although it certainly works out well in real life to do that, there are sometimes where you do not want to bud into a thread conversation with your post (lets say someone posts some info and people are asking them a bunch of questions, the thank you in the middle would kinda be like interrupting). Also there are cases where some people appreciate one's trip reports but choose not to boost the thread for what ever reason. I know I've seen trip reports that I appreciated but did not reply to.

These are just excuses, Flow. Saying thank you is simple. Listen to me, I'm older than you.

Oh are they? I'm talking about real scenarios that happen all the time. If I post a trip report that gets 5 replies total, do you think only those 5 people liked it and nobody else? That is probably not the reality of the situation. Most people may like something and not reply, but I suppose then your not into knowing who liked your posts.

Where's the like button?
Take risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping
I may not have anyone rocking my world right now but, I don't have anyone messing it up either.

The nwhiker crowd is probably not a fan of the like button, but a "Thank You" button is less facebook like and shows more of a appreciation than a liking.

I wanted to hit the Like button when HiT made her suggestion, but I'll just say Thank You instead

I like the idea
Its a nice way to show appreciation for something without clogging up a thread with the same reply. Then again something like this would probably cause people to argue less and we wouldnt want that!
