Plan was to get to Tolmie Peak LO, didnt happen. Oh well it was still a nice day, and I'm sure i could have if I really wanted to.
Here's Mowich Lake

It was all about the avalanche lillies this trip.

Save yourself and skip the lakeshore trail and park at the end closest to Tolmie peak trail there's hardly any snow beginning there.
043 044
As close as I came to a goat
058 059
Snow starts .5 from Eunice and then it stays
063 065 066 071 073 079 081 083 084 085
Some critters on the way out
Walked the road up instead of post holing last little bit
That's about it.

Maybe a week, just a little lingering on the sides, Eunice will be a while and those meadows up there probably a month! Yikes!

Thanks for the trip report! We were going to head there, but opted for the Palisades instead. Nice to see what is going on there. Love that area. Such a late snowmelt, for sure.

This is really helpful info...I'd like to take a group in Aug. 12-13 with several adults and kids from 5 to 13 for an overnight. If anyone goes in this coming week I sure look forward to the beta!!

Thanks for the report. I was thinking about this area but I think I'll hold off another week. Our only fear - mosquitoes. They are going to be hungry!

Not surprised - last year we tried to make it to Fremont Lookout just after the snow melt. They got the best of us. It is that time now at Rainier. Bring on the Headnets.... We're trying the Teanaway instead.
