My wildlife viewing in Washington focuses on the elusive and protected Northern Flying Squirrel. I found them and lived with them in Idaho where they aren't especially rare. Fun. They are protected here. I call them, Fly Boy's. It's a circus act to watch out in the night woods if you know what and where to look. They have big eyes.

Primo viewing; here is a full list of WA protected critters (not endangered). Pika, Marmot, etc.. http://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=232-12-011
