I know this is kind of a weak effort as far as TR's go but don't have the time to do a nice write up. I'm leaving for a big expedition soon and have a lot of packing left to do. In the last few weeks I was able to climb several peaks that have been high on my list for a long time. This post is more of a photo share than an actual conditions report. Little Devil - August 11 Joe and Josh Lewis accompanied me for this outing. We decided to try a variation of the route and traverse below the glacier rather than crossing it un-roped or following the ridge crest as some folks do. This worked out quite nicely. Another benefit is that we were able to explore the little lake which is forming at the base of the glacier. Then we scrambled along the southeast ridge which was fun. When we reached the summit register, I noticed that a nearby boulder was higher. That bugged me so I took off my hiking boots and climbed up barefoot to touch the high point. There were very few finger tip holds and I cut my hands and feet up a bit.

Gothic Peak - August 16 I've been to Gothic Basin several times in the past but for various reasons, I hadn't yet had the chance to give Gothic a try. This time we got it done. I took my buddy Greg along for the climb.

Mount Blum - August 28 This peak has been on my wish-list for a long time. It's always been my plan to climb it in a day because carrying heavy packs is not fun. Blum is a very isolated peak. Unless you are climbing something pretty high in the nearby area, you can usually only catch glimpses of Blum. Joe came along again for the climb. We began at 3:30 am and returned to the car at 9pm. The first 5000 feet of gain are not much fun. In the dark on the ascent and again on the descent we kept finding ourselves in big patches of devil's club and giant blowdown. The trail is difficult to follow and totally gone in many places. Once we got to the lakes, it was a very enjoyable climb. It was hot so I drank 8 liters of water and only had to go once.

Nice job! You have had an awesome Summer for mountaineering!

Lots of peaks going down quickly. Could be a fisherman's story but you got the photos to prove it!
