Thanks for all the great comments and feedback. I tried to do extra details since so few TR's for this area. Is anyone have more information on access route/trail to Snowslide Lake? I saw an old fire ring so know people get up there. Also interested when the last known ascent of Bushwhack Peak was? Justus-Some great climbs on the ridge for you! I am not sure we will see any trails on Ragged Ridge. At the USFS public meeting that area was leading in votes to be kept free of trails! They will have their final reccomendation plan out later this year.

Wow! Some of that area looks like it could be in some far away country rather than the Cascades. I wish we could read the summit entries in that rusty can.

Having climbed some towers above Boulder lake circa 1995 and gazing into the verdant valley and awesome alpine area encompassing the upper Sultan river / Frostbite peak area, I vowed to travel there some day. Thanks for upping the ante in my mind with this great adventure and accompanying pictures.

You said it! Yana and I had plans to climb Ragged Ridge earlier in the year(her idea), but we didn't for some reason. Probably weather didn't work out for it.

Really nice trip report! up.gif up.gif The photos and words belong together. I remember and older climber telling me hardly anyone had ever been up there and now I know why. An amazing effort!!

good stuff andy. way to make the trip happen, even if solo. i don't think that algae is all that uncommon. i seem to recall seeing some on the closed portion of the index galena road road in a ditch. could have been slightly different, but i don't think so.

Bravo Andy! Now that's an adventure without leaving your own yard! re; the fire ring. There is a cable crossing at the bottum of snowslide gulch, but I think it's private? other then that, I don't know where a trail would come from.

So. Very. Cool! Snowslide Lake is one I've wanted to get to. It's not a very commonly visited puddle, fo' sho'. Thanks for the TR and all the nice pics! Loved the pictures of the horns and the ones of Tang Tower and Fallacy. Really neat looking peaks. up.gif up.gif

Hi, Read your report, I never thought of doing ragged ridge that way. I was just up Mt. Stickney a couple weeks ago, pretty close to where you were. Have you ever thought about going up Beckler river, then up San Jaun hill to Boulder Lake, then over to El Capitan. Then over to Conglomerate and Spire, then over to Iron mt. And out trout creek? I am not sure where the Index road is closed at, but I have looked at this route many times. Ice Girl

Wonderful and inspiring report, Sultan Guy, I didn't know anything about this area and this really opened my eyes. Great trip -- your self-portraits look like you were having fun. smile.gif (I started reading the site a bit ago, but this TR just pushed me to post.)
