Tim J and I took advantage of the great weather this past weekend and hiked up RoundMountain on Saturday the 15th. We followed the route description described here: http://www.summitpost.org/new-round-mountain-trail/634957 . The description is spot on, except that the trail has seen some significant brush work and is even now signed at the "trailhead". The views from the summit were outstanding, especially with the recent snow on the higher peaks along the crest. I have attached some shots with this report (due to the harsh afternoon light the colors don’t do justice). We decided to return south via the Mountain Loop Highway, taking in a few more choice views along the way. Lots of traffic on the old mountain road on this nice Saturday.
