I forgot about those group images, Karen - thanks! The one by the tent actually turned out quite well, and is my favorite of the two. Nice work!
Thanks for posting, for all your kind words, and for being a part of it. I thought it was a fun group, so I'm glad you and others seem to agree.
I'm looking forward to seeing all four of trips worth of your images!
...and out of the blue, I just realized I forgot to share my tea invite story, and Jo's classic response. That one might best be left alone.

DonTele,
Nice shots of the lake and peak through the larches. That's something I was just thinking about as I looked over photos from my last couple trips - how to get photos that convey the feeling of being in the middle of the larches, instead of just views standing back at a distance.

I'm a little late to the party on this one.
What a fun trip with a great group of people. We met the guys at the ranger station and we're erm...interested to hear there was going to be more snow than we had anticipated. But it just made for better photos!
The slog in Snow Lake the first day was, well, a slog. But the pay off was grand...if we hadn't been too tired to enjoy it.
First indication that this trip is going to rock! The other Don It's going to be a cold few days
The winds were howling the first night, but we were warm and sheltered so the noise was the only discomfort. It was pretty overcast when we awoke the next morning, but the sun managed to punch through and had everyone dropping their breakfast and running for their cameras.
First light! Everyone scrambles for their cameras Shadows and snow The light promises some clearing? The other Don gets his shot Precious sunlight!
Josie and I headed up to Gnome Tarn and were later joined by the two Dons. The weather was a real mixed bag, cold and blowing snow one second, sucker holes and warmer air the next. I must have shed and added layers every five or ten minutes.
First view of Gnome tarn It's a marshmellow world Winterwonderland Brrr! Chilly day in the Chants
Yes finally! Blue sky!
Where did that blue sky come from?
But it was only fleeting.
Ugh! Where is Prusik?
Josie & I had headed back up to one of our favourite spots and waited for hours for some semblance of clearing.
Chilly Willy waiting out the weather Our patience is rewarded. It finally it clears!
After another cold night we awoke to....clear skies! The horizon was bright orange when I first emerged from camp, it was spectacular! So I quickly headed down trail to find some photos ops.
Dawn breaks over the basin Chants on fire
Somehow in the process I managed to lose Josie, but found Don and Don, and shortly after that Dale, John and Eric. Eagle eyed Don spotted Josie, back up here...
Ah! This is more like it! Perfection Gonna be a bright sun shiny day
Josie & I had to exit on this particular day as I had other adventures awaiting me back in civilization (trip report still coming ). So we slowly made our way back to camp to pack up. But not before we chatted briefly with the nw all stars team pushing through - Dicey, Donb, Matt, Randy & Roald
Water painting Sunning herself on a rock Hiker above Perfection Lake Meadows Hiker admires the larches Last parting shot from camp Jo leaves a surprise for the guys to "chick up" their morning coffee
We bid goodbye to the two Dons (the rest of the crew was tagging Little Annapurna) and made our long descent back to the party that was the Snow Lake trail head parking lot. Boy there were a lot of people there! We were passed by oodles and oodles of day hikers.
Waterfall drops into the basin Heading out of camp Josie basking in the larches Goodbye Enchantments Happy and sad to be headed back to civilization Crossing the lake
Thanks to all the guys for making this such a great trip, and to Don the mastermind behind it all.

Excellent pictures as always, Karen! I love "Chants on Fire". I played with that composition again myself, but pretty much tossed 'em all. You did much better.
Yes, I found the coffee packets as I was taking down the tent the next day. Fun to see evidence of the guilty person "chicking up" my tent!
Thanks again for a wonderful trip!

I admit that after more than a half decade of hanging out on nwhikers, I've never been bitten by the Enchantments bug. Sure it looks nice and all that, but the permits and the distance (and the overnight) has always kept it just off my radar.
Now y'all have gone and screwed it up.
It's now on the 2012 to-do list.
Specifically, I blame the vetical pictures of Prusik Peak with the Larches & the tarn.
Thanks a lot. (in a sarcastic tone)
Thanks a lot! I can't wait! (Seriously serious tone)

Another outstanding TR with amazing pictures. The problem Elvis, is once you get bitten by the Enchantment bug, you are smitten forever. Especially if you are able to be there in the Golden Larch in October. I'm living in Utah now but every October, I want to get back to where the beauty is unmatched, the Enchantments. Thanks for posting this
