I made a couple of changes to get the ball rolling.
Opened up the group page so that anyone (not just Admins) could post on it, but then, to keep out spammers, I changed it so that it was a "closed" group, i.e. an admin has to approve anyone wanting to join the group. Intention isn't to keep it a closed circle, but rather, just to make it so that we can make the group useful without providing a target for unsolicited advertising.
Made Barefoot Jake an admin out there as well so he or I can approve people's requests to join.

I have a feeling Barefoot Jake is catching all of the confirmations. I see them in my notifications, but there's nothing there when I go to click on it.

I think it's partially a way to find NWHikers on Facebook -- it's hard to make the real names of Facebook to correspond with the pseudonyms some of us use here -- and partially a way to get additional visibility for posts / discussion for folks that use Facebook more regularly than they do NWHikers.net.

Most of my Facebook friends are from here. I see that someone has about 20 friends in common with me, and I shoot them a friend request. They know it's me because of my Sluggish avatar picture at FB.
