Had anyone been out this way recently? I'm curious if the road will have any snow tomorrow.

We drove the Miller River road toward the Lake Dorothy trailhead last Saturday, which is near there and at a similar elevation. Actually I think the Dorothy TH is a bit higher. I don't think the snow levels have gotten that low since then. If anything, there has probably been some melt. The Miller River road had a couple inches of snow/ice on it but it was drivable. You should be ok with decent traction on your tires and 4WD. If it gets deeper as the road gets higher, you can find a wide spot, park, and hike from there. After all Barclay is a short trail. That is actually what we did, because there was one dip and stream crossing on the road that was particularly icy. Our small SUV *probably* would have handled it OK, but we had no cell reception and no chains, so we decided to play it safe. We parked, hiked the road (which itself was lovely) and made it to the lake, anyway. Bring your microspikes.

In case anyone else was wondering:
As of 1-4-2014 the road was bare until a mile before the trailhead, then 2-4 inches of rutted out snow the rest of the way

There was am inch or two of snow at Barclay lake.a group of 4 was camped when I passed by in the morning and a separate group of 4 was at a different site on my way back out. There are several other sites and all seemed to be havinga good time despite the cold!
