Yea Top Pot overrated in my opinion. At least you can get some common Top Pot varieties (Maple Bars, Chocolate Bars etc) at QFC for about half the price. I'll take a cheaper/arguably better doughnut from Happy, House of Donuts or Countryside any day.

agree top pot plain cake fails the MeWA test it is like they tried to make them to healthy and special and wound up taking the essence away. texture too dense, finish not crisp.

Well passed by the House of Donuts last Saturday and it has reopened. Not a lot changed. They raised their prices though. Now Maple Bars cost $1. Used to be 80 cents for pretty much any donut.
Revised price list/menu for House of Donuts..
House of donuts
House of donuts
House of donuts
House of donuts
While the prices keep rising the crowds keep coming.. LOL!

Family Donut Shop in Northgate is awesome. I live 2 blocks from a Top Pot but never go there. Meh.

My all-time favorites are the cider donuts from Russell Orchards, which is only helpful to folks who live in or are visiting northern MA, as it's in Ipswich MA. I haven't had any in over 20 years (since moving out here) but this time of year, I still get the hankering. No matter how many we bought, the bag was empty by the time we got home. It's fun to watch them make them on their old time assembly line too.
I've had some other really good donuts, but nothing quite like these...

The Marketplace (formerly the Albies), in Woodinville, makes fresh chocolate glazed donuts and bars, with gummy bears, and gummy worms, atop them. My first thoughts were "this is wrong, these things do not go together." After a thorough, and lengthy investigation, I have changed my mind. Also a fan of the chocolate glazed with Cocoa Puffs, or Captain Crunch, available at some of the FreddyMeyers.

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

I have not tried them but I've heard the cider donuts at the Orondo Cider Works located up river from Wenatchee are good. Here's their website: http://www.orondociderworks.com/
