jd_hiker 's input and photos, posted January 4, 2012: amazing. I hate to use an over-wrought word. Well, the one shot of Rainier is nearly lurid! It is like a vision of another planet - scape! The "incoming front" of clouds radiating from (or, to?) Rainier and description of wind surely labels you and intrepid! Keep up the wonderful work! I have not seen so many fine shots of sunrise on Rainier...not ever! Your Nikon D7000 does a terrific job; you handle it so darned well. And, well, you create "ART" with the technology and Nikon. Kudos!

Excellent photo of Mt St Helen's crater, Chainsaw Willie! All I can offer is a photo of Boundary Bay from December.

Thanks hiker1 & TA! That was a really fun trip. I'm going through all of my pictures and weeding out the ones not worth saving (turning out to be a huge task) so that I can start backing everything up on an external hard drive I got for Christmas. Came across the individual photos that make up that panorama (it's 5 frames stitched), realized I'd never stitched them so had a go at it. Very pleased with the results. Here's another of my favorites from that day:

Had a calendar once of photos of Torres del Paine, etc. Drooled endlessly. Some of the most spectacular glaciated geology on the planet. Envious of anyone that has been. So, I truly enjoy this photo, an aspect I do not recall of Fitz Roy. BTW, heard or read that temperatures reached 112 F in southern Argentina last week. True? Would impact the vast glaciers of southern Andes.
