After taking puzzlr's suggestion to watch the fantastic no-frills documentary, K2: Siren of the Himalayas, I was inspired to go back through my last Karakorams trip - not the K2 one unfortunately, since my unprocessed photos from there are archived and require a bit of effort to get at - and dig up this previously unprocessed photo of the magnificent Sosbun Brakk (20,040ft tall):

So really not a lot more relief than Mt. Si... biggrin.gif wink.gif What kind of acclimitization do you go through to be able to hike around and take pics at those elevations? I haven't been above about 12K and I could definitely feel the thin atmosphere there.

We started from 10,000ft, and went up slowly. It took us 6 days to reach this spot and I was well acclimatized. Unfortunately, one of us was not doing well so we did not go much higher (out final elevation was around 16,000ft). Here's what we did to cope with the thin air: - Didn't have too big a jump in starting and ending elevation for the day - Spent at least 3-4hrs at the night's elevation before going to sleep; this is key, because your body has a tendency to fall back to the last elevation it was used to overnight - Stay active in those 3-4hrs. I would typically climb something nearby, or stay active, usually in the pursuit of photography Trip report: Snow Lake trek.

Mike again with the foxes..... and BADGERS!!!! Wow, never seen one. So cool. I was hiking the Yakima Skyline trail once and a lady coming down said she'd seen a badger on the slopes up above so I hurried up as fast as I could but of course saw nothing...

Most Forthright Business Name Ever? tongue.gif I have to say, it's been on my list for a first-time visit, just because. dizzy.gif
