A few shots from yesterday on the Chain Lakes Loop. It was so nice to have smoke-free cool air and no bugs that we hardly noticed the crowds!

Nature always provides. In this case, an improbable stone recliner perched at a prominent point.

I was in Ketchikan over Labor Day, and before I flew out Monday, my daughter and I went up Deer Mountain for old time's sake. The cruise ships were 3,000 feet below us.
Seen through the clouds looking down from the top of Deer Mountain. There were four cruise ships in with 15,000 passengers and crew.

I went to Rialto Beach with my family for sunset photos and dinner. I had planned on getting us there 90 minutes early, but as things go we only got there 35 minutes early. We started setting up for dinner. I cracked open a beer and went to set up for some sunset photos. It was then I realized that the cool sea stacks were a mile and a half up the beach! So... I ran the mile and a half up the beach, holding a beer the whole time, and got there with about 10-15 minutes to shoot a couple shots. I was glad I was able to come away with one I was happy with! lol.gif

Running before and after downing the beer can be quite the buzz enhancer, whether wanted or not! Nice shot. Here's one from late yesterday off of highway 542. I believe the pink/purple flower is purple monkeyflower but am wondering what the other two in this little island clump are...

The pink is Lewis monkeyflower. I believe the yellow is another type of monkeyflower, I see them growing together sometimes.

Those lush, wet monkey flower patches along sweet, bubbling creeks are one of my favorite places.

The yellow is Epilobium luteum, a willow herb.

The cream one is Epilobium luteum, the pink Erythranthe (Mimulus) lewisii, and the yellow is Erythranthe (Mimulus) tillingii.

Thanks for the flower IDs! Here's a shot from a little later that afternoon, not long before the rain moved in for the rest of the evening. Fall is clearly on its way!

And one from yesterday, when we had a lovely mix of summer and fall feelings depending on whether the sun was out or not

Artists Point 9/29/18 was a zoo of people. But the colors were great!
