First, my apologies for the late post. I have a pretty good reason. I've moved to South America. It was a pretty hectic September for me, so I am just now getting around to this... The Wigwams are a pretty special place. My hiking buddy Bob could not believe that he could have been hiking in the Spokane area for 10 years and to not have known about the Wigwams. Incredible scenery, lots of opportunity for off-trail exploration... One caveat - the road is in bad shape. The main road was closed for some reason this summer, and we were forced to drive the secondary roads. A few times bottoming out on the water bars in my Forester. On to the scenery:

[Sorry about the resolution on the panorama - picasa seems to have an "800" limit to the long dimension.] The one stunning feature of the ridge is how it looked like a wave that was just cresting. It was really nice. So, being in Uruguay, I probably won't get back there for a while. So I will have to settle for hikes in the Torres del Paine/Patagonia for a couple years.

up.gif It's nice to see a different perspective of that area. I was up on Lookout Mountain and Roman Nose in September. A lot of the road closures are permanent - for grizzly habitat.

Heard about this hike last night at the bar, might try it this week. Just wanted to bump this to post the link to the TH directions from Priest River. https://www.inlandnwroutes.com/the-wigwams-7033.html

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
