There are some eastern wa. place names that have early French fur trapper origin's. Here is some history regarding the name The Dalles, Oregon on the Columbia River http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalles_des_Morts

Thanks for the post! I think I first heard the word in 5th grade WA state history class, and it seemed a little mysterious then, but my teacher sounded like she knew what she was talking about.

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.
