What a beautiful day to be out! We headed for Tiptop Mtn north of Blewett Pass with friends. We used Richard’s route which started at the Ruby Creek Rd, FS Rd # 7204. We left the road almost immediately and headed up a steep slope toward a ridge leading to point 4038. There were beautiful views out to the Enchantments, up the Ingalls Creek valley to Fortune Pk., and closer in we saw Three Brothers and Miller. We followed the ridge until we intercepted a road in Deer Park Spring. We followed the road a short way through lovely meadows, but quickly got back on a ridge because the snowshoeing was good & we had fabulous views out to the west, north, and east. We could see the Entiat Mountains, Horse Lake Mtn and the Columbia Plateau in addition to the western view! It was so pretty we hesitated often as we went up the ridge toward Tiptop. As we got near the peak, we used the road to go around to the south side of the mountain where we ascended the last 250ft going straight up the hill to the top. At the summit a few trees do interfere with some of the views . . . well enough that somenamhere thinks the name of the peak could be changed to TreeTop Mtn. For the descent we continued on Richard’s planned loop, this time taking a ridge on the west side of Tiptop with stunning western views at the top. We dropped about 500 ft and where the ridge split, took the left side. At about 3100ft we followed a bearing of roughly 210 deg. and dropped to a road. The sun had evidently neglected to shine there because all the trees were covered with a mixture of snow and frost. We noticed signs designating the area as wildlife habitat. We followed the road to FS Rd #7204 which we took back to the cars. Sunset on the way home going south on Blewett Pass was really pretty!
Thank you. Well . . . we figure there are seven major Teanaway and Enchantments peaks in the photo. . . and bunches more named points and bumps. A real feast on a pretty day.
